Quality you can rely on. That’s what the Satino by WEPA products offer you, and sustainability plays a crucial part in this.
WEPA is the number one hygiene paper manufacturer in Europe - specialising inrecycled and hybrid papers, aiming to provide the most sustainable hygiene portfolio in the industry. We strive to support our customers in making their contribution to protecting the environment.
For this purpose, we focus on site or process certifications and official product seals. These provide clear orientation for consumers, in purchasing and in public procurement. The seals are independently awarded and validated and make sure we meet specific sustainability criteria.
Blue Angel
Numerous Satino by WEPA hygiene papers made of recycled fibres bear the Blue Angel. This is the oldest environmental seal in the world and was founded in 1978. In the case of hygiene paper, the Blue Angel focuses on the raw materials used and product safety, with the main focus on environmental and health protection.
EU Ecolabel
The European Ecolabel makes sure that production processes are carried out according to strict environmental standards. It serves as a guide for everyone who wants to protect the environment by means of product choice. Numerous pulp and recycled qualities of Satino tissue paper bear this label.
FSC® and PEFC
FSC® (FSC®-C016151) and PEFC (PEFC /04-32-0775) are wood product certifications for wood from sustainable forestry. The seals distinguish our pulp and recycled qualities, which are produced with concurrent virgin or recycled fibres. In fact, 98% of our virgin fibres are currently FSC® or PEFC certified. The remainder meets at least the FSC Controlled Wood Standard.
Cradle to Cradle
The Cradle to Cradle (C2C) concept focuses on designing products with materials that are less harmful, allowing for reuse or natural degradation. Our affiliated brand BlackSatino is already Cradle to Cradle CertifiedTM. Among the key parameters here are the use of ecologically sound ingredients, material recycling, the use of renewable energy, sustainable water management and assuming social responsibility.
ISO
All WEPA production sites in Europe are certified according to ISO 9001 (quality management), ISO 14001 (environmental management) and ISO 50001 (energy management), and five of our sites are already certified according to ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety) which we aim to achieve for all other production sites in Europe.
Lean + Green
Lean + Green is a non-profit initiative for more sustainability in the warehouse and logistics sector. Here, companies are awarded for reducing their CO₂ emissions. Thanks to smart measures, we have achieved our CO₂ reduction target and carry the “1st Star” for 2012-2016 and 2017-2019. Certification was carried out via TÜV NORD. Applying further measures, we are currently setting our sights on the “2nd Star”.
